The costarican Rabbinate of the Orthodox Jewish Community in the Israeli Zionist Centre of Costa Rica is directed by the Rabin Gershon Miletsky. The consultancy of the supervisor of Kashrut, Mr. Hilel Ariel, allows us the total organization for this kind of travel in Costa Rica. In the Shabbat we will bring you to the Synagogue in San Jose, one of the most attractive in Latin America. Day 1 (Sunday): Welcome to Costa Rica!
Upon arriving at Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, an Altura Tour’s representative will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel. Our guide will meet you in your hotel lobby to go to dinner. After dinner we will brief you on your complete itinerary. After your orientation program we will continue with a private tour of the Synagogue, the Jewish museum and a lecture about the Jewish and the Jewish Costa Rica’s history. Day 2 (Monday): ( San José / Sarapiquí)-Early morning: Before breakfast we will go to the local Synagogue for the Morning Prayer. After this activity we will go back to the hotel for breakfast and check-out. Mid Morning: ( Leaving your hotel and going to Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and Butterfly Observatory & Hummingbird Gallery). The Poás Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica. Here the crystal sulphur pools will amaze you. We will visit the museum and crater, which is one of the largest in the world ( 4450 ft. circumference). After hiking a visit to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The guide will take you to the butterfly observatory, hummingbird gallery and waterfall trails as we explore the five magnificent waterfalls located in this park.
Late Afternoon: Free time at the hotel to enjoy your eco-resort. Overnight: Eco-resort Sarapiqui
Day 3 (Tuesday)-(Rainforest Biological Station & Rafting adventure in the Sarapiqui River )Early Morning: *(Optional) (Guided bird watching and wildlife walk)-Early morning (best time of the day for bird watching & wildlife) your naturalist guide will take you through the many trails of your eco-resort looking for the local wildlife, fauna and bird species unique to Costa Rica. Mid Morning: (Exploration of the Bio station Rainforest) Guided exploration of the Selva Verde Biological Station discovering the biodiversity of lowland tropical rainforest at this internationally famous research station. With its state of the art laboratories, extensive trails, online geographic information system and large forest reserve bordering Braulio Carrillo National Park; Selva Verde is one of the most important sites for tropical ecosystems research in the world. The diversity of species is wonderful, including more than 1,900 species of plants, 450 species of ants and 436 species of birds. Show birds, such as toucans, trogons, parrots, hummingbirds, mammals, including peccaries, monkeys, agoutis, and coatis, are frequently seen. Sometimes it is possible to see pumas, jaguars and bushmasters. Afternoon: (White water rafting on the Sarapiqui River) Costa Rica is world renowned for the quality of its white water. Warm water, abundant rain and a large variety of rivers and eco-systems make this small democratic nation a little paradise. All afternoon, the adventure will be white water rafting on the Sarapiqui River. (Class III & IV). *Optional programs are available for those not interested in rafting.

Day 4 (Wednesday)-(Cruise of the Rainforest River / Arenal)-Early Morning: *(optional) Bird watching and wildlife walk with your guide. Early morning, (best time of day bird watching & wildlife) your naturalist guide will bring you through the many trails of the eco-resort, looking for the local wildlife, fauna and bird species unique to Costa Rica. Late Morning: (Cruise of the Rainforest River ) A lovely morning of guided cruising as you drift along the Sarapiquí River through the rainforest and river banks. Search for toucans, monkeys, caimans, crocodiles, iguanas and many other species of jungle wildlife. Afternoon: Transfer to Arenal- Arenal Volcano: Guided hikes make the Arenal Volcano an experience one will never forget, as we view its spectacular volcanic eruptions. This excursion includes the Canopy Tour, Bridges Rainforest Tour and overnight at the Volcano Resort & Spa. From the resort you will appreciate the volcanic eruptions as spectacular fire and lava spilling over its top. Here the natural beauty of the rain forest will make you feel the magnificence of one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Day 5 (Thursday)-(Arenal Volcano / Canopy Tour / Hanging Bridges/Hot Springs)-Early Morning: *(optional) Guided bird watching and wildlife walk.
Early morning (best time of day for bird watching & wildlife) your naturalist guide will take you through the many trails of your eco-resort looking for the local wildlife, fauna and bird species unique in Costa Rica. Late Morning: (Hanging Bridges Tour)-This activity will make you feel as close as you could ever imagine getting to the birds, to the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rainforest. You will be able to walk right into the forest, thanks to the safe hanging bridges which are very easy to walk on. All of the 12 bridges offers spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano. Afternoon: (Rainforest Canopy Tour)
This is very emotional experience! It consists of sliding on a secure cable between towers and 12 platforms in the canopy of the tropical forest. A system of platforms allows visitors to appreciate nature from the top of tropical trees. You will start your Canopy tour from the Sky Trek, flying through the spectacular wildlife from the tops of the trees. Those participants who do not want to do the Canopy tour will have an optional guided tour to the primary forest with your naturalist guide, at the mountain top. The Canopy tour is very safe and unforgettable. There isn’t any repelling or climbing involved and a guide is stationed on each platform to assist you. From the top of the trees in the rainforest you can enjoy a spectacular view, close to Cost Rica’s unique wildlife, including monkeys and hundreds species of birds. Finishing the Canopy tour you can complete your experience spending some time looking for wildlife along the river banks of the rainforest searching for toucans, monkeys, caimans, crocodiles, iguanas and many other habitants of the jungle. Evening: (*Optional tour to Hot Springs & Spa). In this luxury Spa & Resort there are more than 12 natural pools heated by the Arenal Volcano. (Open until 10:00pm). Day 6 (Friday)-(Morning at leisure / Return to San Jose, Shabbat with the Jewish Community)-Late Morning: (Depart to San Jose. Upon arrival, historical guided city tour). Return to San Jose for Shabbat and a meeting with the local Jewish Community. Upon arrival you will check-in to the hotel and receive a briefing about the city tour. Early Evening: Our guide will be waiting to pick you up for Shabbat dinner and walk to the very close Synagogue for Shabbat services (hotel is walking distance of the synagogue). Day 7 (Saturday)-(Shabbat: San Jose )-Morning: With your guide, a walk to the services at the local Synagogue-Afternoon : After service: Shabbat lunch with the local community. Evening: Final dinner and entertainments-Overnight: Hotel San Jose
Day 8 (**Sunday) Depart-Transfer to the airport for your departure home or any other destination.
**Beach Extension: 2 to 4 days are optional like beach resort extension, Sunday to Wednesday -(This is a non-guided tour)-(The service includes transfers and fresh frozen kosher meals).
